Three public workshops will be conducted at key points throughout this project. Each workshop is anticipated to begin with an informal open house session. During the open house component, JLUS Project Team members will be available to talk with the public in a one-on-one, informal atmosphere. Following each open house session, a formal presentation and/or workshop activity will be conducted.
Public Workshop #1: This workshop will explain the purpose and function of the JLUS, explain the nature of military operations at Offutt AFB, introduce project participants, share the JLUS approach, and discuss the goals of the JLUS. The format of this workshop will include a presentation to the public followed by an interactive working session where attendees will be invited and encouraged to share their input on potential JLUS issues. A user-friendly JLUS Project Overview Fact Sheet will be distributed at this workshop to provide the public with a tool in completing the compatibility issues exercise. Attendees will work in groups around large scale study area maps to complete a compatibility issues worksheet as well as engage in small group discussions with the JLUS team. Participants will also be able to provide input through interactive audience response systems that allow for immediate response viewing and tracking.
Public Workshop #2: The focus of this workshop will be to present to the public the JLUS findings and share with them the draft recommendations. The first portion of the workshop will be a formal presentation detailing the findings and recommendations. The second portion will be a facilitated exercise to which the public will provide input on the draft recommendations.
Public Workshop #3: The third public workshop will present the Draft JLUS to the public for their review. The public review process and details on how to submit comments will be provided. The public and interested stakeholders will be encouraged to provide feedback either during the meeting via comment cards or submission of comments via the project website and designated MAPA Project Manager.
As workshop dates and locations are set, information and meeting materials will be posted on this page. As the project progresses, links to the agendas and materials from previous meetings will be posted here for easy access and remain here for the duration of the project.
